ULTRALÍRICOS

The Latin American Tragedy and Comedy

An army of actors face a huge Styrofoam wall. They build and tear down the world at will, shaping the scene, Latin American texts, and the many ideas that make up this complex puzzle about the tragic and comical condition of people in Latin America. With words, sung or not, in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, always translated, the play raises themes such as violence, political and ideological binarism, the elitist system, the lack of appreciation of culture itself, the lack of historical awareness, among other topics dear to the continent. The two parts of the play tell us, from the voice of Latin American authors, a narrative that the education of these countries, whether formal or informal, has taught to ignore. A whole continent of ideals built to then collapse and be rearranged, soon to become a ruin and then everything to be rebuilt again to collapse again and again and again. An allegory of representation of the state of affairs on this side of the earth.
