Lazarus

By David Bowie and Irish playwright Enda Walsh, Lazarus is a show based on the novel The man who fell on Earth written by Walter Tevis. Project initiated by Dueto Produções for the inauguration of the Teatro Unimed in São Paulo, directed by Felipe Hirsch, the script tells the story of the character Thomas Newton, played by Jesuita Barbosa, a tormented alien who travels to Earth to save his planet. The musical features 18 songs from different stages of Bowie's career, including songs from his latest album, Blackstar. The show originally debuted in New York, directed by Ivo Van Hove, in December 2015, with Bowie present, a month before his death.
