The Three Sisters
Three sisters, who lead a comfortable but too quiet life in the countryside, dream of returning to Moscow, the city of promised happiness. Olga, the oldest, retired teacher, Macha, the disappointed lover, and Irina, who seeks pleasure at work, live their days in search of a better future. Waiting for the departure time, the turmoil of friendships, loves and family relationships permeates the lives of these three sisters. Eight years after a warm welcome at the Théâtre du Trident, on the roads of Québec and France, a renewed version of the play The Three Sisters was presented in Moscow in 2009, as part of the Chekhov Festival, which then highlighted the 150th anniversary of Anton Chekhov. On this occasion, the organizers chose to present only works by the Russian playwright assembled in different countries around the world, such as Germany, Argentina, France, Japan and Canada.

WAJDI MOUAWAD

Writer, director, filmmaker, artistic director, Wajdi Mouawad, born in Lebanon and graduated from Canada's École Nationale de Théâtre in 1991, is one of the most influential writers and directors of his generation. A man of words, it is possible to appreciate his singular directions both in his own texts, such as Littoral, Scorched and Forests , as well as in authors like Euripides, of whom he set up The Troianas at the Théâtre du Trident in 1999. In 2005, he founded in Québec , along with Emmanuel Schwartz, Abé Carré Cé Carré and in France, Au Carré de l'Hypoténuse, two companies dedicated to spread from coast to coast across the Atlantic. Since September 2007, he has been artistic director of the French theater at the Center National des Arts (CNA) in Ottawa. His last visit to the Théâtre du Trident dates from that same year, when he presented Forests . Since then, his tetralogy The blood of promises (composed of Littoral, Scorched,, Forests and Heavens ) was presented in July 2009 at the 63rd Festival d'Avignon, of which he was an associated artist. Scorched was also adapted for cinema by Denis Villeneuve, in the film Incendies, acclaimed both by the public and critics. As an interpreter, he composed the cast of the play Les Justes, by Camus, directed by Stanislas Nordey at the Théâtre de la Colline.
