We mourn the death of the great German actor Jürgen Holtz at the age of 87. He performed in São Paulo at Sesc Pinheiros in 2012, alongside his colleagues from the Berliner Ensemble in both The Three Penny Opera and Lulu, both directed by Robert Wilson, of whom he was a regular collaborator, among others, playing also in Shakespeare's Sonnets and Endgame. Just last year, Holtz played the title role in Brecht's Galileo Galilei directed by Frank Castorf, in its six-hour version for the Berliner Ensemble. He once had a long and important career on stage, television and film in Germany, having worked with names in Besson and Müller. (published on 12.07.2020)
