Congratulations to the American artist and choreographer William Forsythe, who received the German theater prize DER FAUST for his life's work. The Jury said: "In a year that brings great uncertainty for all theaters worldwide William Forsythe with his aesthetically, educationally and structurally future-oriented life's work is the ideal winner of the German Theater Prize DER FAUST. Forsythe has decisively influenced the contemporary dance by his incomparable choreographies. He has trained, promoted and sustainably shaped entire generations of dancers and choreographers of the present days. In doing so he has left traces that creatively point toward the future of the dance.”
Forsythe had his first solo exhibition in Brazil presented in 2019 at Sesc Pompeia, William Forsythe: Choreographic Objects, presenting both original works created for the venue as well as historical ones from his career as visual artist, being visited by over 87 thousand people during its four months on, also having the works Aligningung Nº2 and Debut, São Paulo presented at the 11ª Bienal Sesc de Dança, in Campinas in the same year.
